Yun Seong-won, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of South Korea on July 7 had a discussion with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan as part of his visit to Vietnam to boost bilateral transport cooperation.
According to Tuan, South Korea is the second-largest bilateral donor supporting transport infrastructure development in Vietnam.
“Transport infrastructure projects with funding and technical support from South Korea have been contributing to positive changes in the transport sector, especially in the fields of construction, management, and operation of transport infrastructure and human resources training,” he noted.
Seong-won expressed his confidence in the strengthened bilateral ties between the two countries and the two ministries in the upcoming time.
“South Korea is willing to cooperate and support Vietnam in the transport sector, especially in the fields that South Korea has expertise and experience in like railway, road and airport," he said.
The two deputy ministers discussed transport infrastructure development and key transport projects in Vietnam that South Korean investors are interested in. They include Long Thanh International Airport, North-South Expressway, Beltway 4 in Hanoi, the Ho Chi Minh City-Can Tho section of the North-South High-speed Railway, and Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line 2, among others.
The two sides also discussed cooperation in human resources training through scholarship programmes to help improve manpower in the transport sector.
On this occasion, Seong-won invited his Vietnamese counterpart to the Global Infrastructure Cooperation Conference 2021 in South Korea.
