An Giang Province wants to improve and increase productivity, efficiency and competitiveness by restructuring agriculture and rural development, with an innovative growth model. The agricultural sector in the province already has a high growth rate and forms the core strength of the economy. The province now wants to take it many steps further by targeting brand marketing, improving on production and quality, and creating more value and competitiveness of all its agricultural goods. This would require restructuring at many levels by increasing rice acreage, and also increasing the breeding of more livestock, and growing fruits and vegetables by using latest high technology. Once the value-added chain is running efficiently the production too will improve and increase.
The province encourages large-scale production, calls for bigger investments in high-tech agriculture and specialized farming, and step by step focusing on enhancing the link between production, processing and consumption of agricultural produce. Simultaneously, An Giang Province is developing the trade, services and tourism sectors, which too contribute in large part to the economy, accounting for 49.09% of the growth in 2020, 5% higher than in 2015.
